故事梗概：
本剧取材于格雷夫斯的亲身经历和他丰富的莎士比亚戏剧表导演创作，以魔幻的手法编织出一个发生在迷茫的六岁男孩儿与苛刻严厉的莎士比亚老师之间令人捧腹而又感人至深的故事。
年仅六岁的格雷夫斯寄宿在一所英国的男子学校，不幸遇到了才华横溢而又嗜酒如命的克莱夫·瑞维尔校长对新生开展的军训式莎士比亚教育。在迷茫与懵懂、羞愧与坚持中，格雷夫斯渐渐走进了瑞维尔校长的莎士比亚世界：爱、激情、诗歌、悔恨、死亡……

格雷夫斯先生是我的恩师。他敏锐而深刻，拥有一个高贵、真诚又极富童真的戏剧灵魂。他是个天才的演员，仿佛是天生为舞台而生的存在。他痴迷莎士比亚。有时我甚至想，比起剧中的瑞维尔校长，他是有过之而无不及。他善良、纯粹、刻苦、认真、勇敢、执着，是个可爱又值得尊敬的艺术家。戏剧一路，他是对我影响至深的老师。戏剧之外，他的言行又深深改变着我的为人处事。我何其有幸。
这部戏是格雷夫斯先生对他的恩师瑞维尔校长的缅怀。剧中的他用最童真无暇的眼光洞察着人类最复杂的情感和文字，用孩子最色彩斑斓的想象理解着古怪老师的莎士比亚世界。在那世界深处，埋葬着人生的痛苦、梦想、悲伤和绝望，而莎士比亚却赋予它们诗意和涅槃的力量，让它们滋长成为艺术家的宝库和人类的共同情感。每个人都有属于他自己的莎士比亚世界，只是等待着被发现、被挖掘的那天。瑞维尔校长是格雷夫斯先生人生的莎士比亚印记，而格雷夫斯先生又成了我生命中的莎士比亚印记。这是一种传承，更是人类精神情感的唤醒与二度融合。

主创简介：
编剧/主演：约瑟夫-格雷夫斯
现为北京大学外国戏剧与电影研究所艺术总监。在过去二十七年中，约瑟夫已在美国、英国和中国导演过近五十部古今话剧、音乐剧和歌剧，包括《罗密欧与朱丽叶》，《理查三世》，《仲夏夜之梦》，《炼金术士》，《海鸥》，《三姊妹》，《野鸭》和《屋顶上的小提琴手》等，曾工作过的剧院有威尔士国家剧院，英国皇家剧院，海马克剧院（西区）等。他已饰演过100多个话剧角色，包括哈姆雷特、亨利五世、李尔王、理查三世、塔杜夫和万尼亚等。在舞台与电影创作方面，约瑟夫也硕果颇丰，作品包括为维亚康姆创作的电影《蜜水》和由奥斯卡获得主约翰·米尔斯主演的《汉娜与杰克》。他的舞台作品《悔》、《班扬》和《文字马戏团》已在洛杉矶威尔逊剧院、英国的珀斯常目剧院以及莫斯科艺术剧院等上演。约瑟夫曾在英国伦敦音乐戏剧学院（LAMDA）接受过正规戏剧训练。

Revel’s World of Shakespeare was written and will be performed by Joseph Graves, and directed by Xiaoqing Hu. Graves draws heavily on his considerable personal experiences with Shakespearean plays and study for the play’s articulations. Graves magically weaves a wildly comedic and deeply moving tale of childhood confusion and exploration, relating it all to the greatest of English writers, William Shakespeare.
At six years of age Graves was introduced to Shakespeare at the difficult hands and demanding styles of his brilliant, though drunken teacher, Clive T. Revel (whose last name inspires the title of the piece) headmaster of The Chelsea School for Boys in London, England were young Graves matriculated. The first two years of their alternately hilarious and stormy relationship, (which eventually spanned some forty years) are explored in depth in this provocative, thought provoking and charmingly written new American play.
Revel’s World of Shakespeare has so far performed in Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei.
JOSEPH GRAVES bio:
Over the last twenty-seven years, Joseph has directed over fifty stage productions, including classical, contemporary, musical theatre and opera, in America, Great Britain and China, such productions include: Romeo and Juliet, Richard III, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Alchemist, The Sea Gull, Three Sisters, The Private Lives of The Master Race and Fiddler on the Roof at such notable venues as: The Welsh National Theatre, The Royal Court Theatre, and The Haymarket Theatre (West End) in Great Britain and
numerous theatres throughout America as well as several in China.
He has appeared as an actor in over one hundred stage roles, and dozens of television productions, performing such famous characters as Hamlet, Henry V, King Lear, Richard III, Tartuffe and Uncle Vanya to name but a few. Graves has also written extensively for film and stage, including such films as Sweetwater for Viacom, and Hannah and Jack for Academy Award winner, Sir John Mills, along with many others. His plays, such as Revoco, Bunyan, and Word Circus, have received productions at such venues as The Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles, Perth Repertory Theatre in Great Britain and The Moscow Art Theatre in Russia. His latest play, Revel’s World of Shakespeare, was given its world premiere in Beijing in the summer of 2005.
Joseph received his formal theatrical training at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
